Selection Process of SBI Recruitment

To become a Probationary Officer in the State Bank of India, candidates must pass through a rigorous selection process, consisting of the following stages:

Preliminary Examination

The first step is the Preliminary Examination, which is designed to assess your aptitude in three key areas:

  1. English Language: This section comprises 30 questions and has a time limit of 20 minutes.
  2. Quantitative Aptitude: You’ll face 35 questions in this section, and you’ll have 20 minutes to complete it.
  3. Reasoning Ability: The Reasoning Ability section also has 35 questions and a 20-minute time limit.

Each of these tests has its dedicated time frame, as mentioned above. It’s important to note that there will be a penalty for wrong answers – 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each incorrect response. There are no specific minimum qualifying marks for individual tests or aggregate scores.

After successfully clearing the Preliminary Examination, candidates will move on to the Main Examination. This stage comprises Objective Tests and a Descriptive Test:

  1. Objective Tests: This section consists of 157 questions, totaling 250 marks, and will last for 210 minutes. The topics covered are Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and English Language.
  2. Descriptive Test: After completing the Objective Tests, you’ll need to write a Descriptive Test, including Letter Writing and Essay Writing. This segment is worth 50 marks and should be completed in 30 minutes.
