Eligibility Criteria for NMMS Scholarship:

To be eligible for the NMMS Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade: Students in Class-VIII studying in Government, Local Body, and Government-Aided schools are eligible.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination is required to appear for the NMMS examination (5% less for SC/ST students).
  • Continued Eligibility: Awardees must maintain a minimum of 55% marks in Class IX and XI and 60% in Class X for the scholarship to continue (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates) in higher classes.
  • Family Income: Scholarships are awarded to gifted or meritorious students whose parental income does not exceed Rs. 3,50,000 per annum.
  • Type of School: Students must be regular attendees in Government, Government-aided, or local body schools for a maximum period of four years while studying in classes IX, X, XI, and XII.

Ineligibility for NMMS Scholarship:

The following categories of students cannot apply for the NMMS Scholarship:

  • Students studying in private schools are eligible to appear in the scholarship exam but are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students studying in “Kendriya Vidyalaya” and “Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas” are not entitled to this scholarship.
  • Students studying in Residential Schools run by State Government Institutions, where facilities like boarding, lodging, and education are provided, as well as students studying in private schools, are also ineligible for this scholarship.

  • UR/OBC: Rs. 200/-
  • SC/ST: Rs. 180/-
  • PWD: Rs. 175/-

Selection Process for NMMS Scholarship:

  • A written examination of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) will be held on November 18, 2023, for the selection of candidates under the NMMS Scholarship Scheme.
  • The question paper will be available in both Assamese and English mediums, with the OMR sheet in English.
  • Previous 5 years’ question papers are available in the ‘Bidyarthi’ app on Google Play Store.
  • Children with disabilities will be given extra time, as applicable.
  • The examination consists of two papers: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

Question Paper Details:

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): Total Marks – 90, Time: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): Total Marks – 90, Time: 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM

To qualify for the scholarship, the following conditions apply:

  • Students must pass both MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in aggregate (32% for SC/ST students).
  • Students must have scored at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VIII examination (50% for SC/ST students).
