In a bid to empower the students of Assam belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC / MOBC), the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, Assam has announced the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2023-2024. OBC Scholarship Details
Name of Scholarship Scheme: Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students
Eligible Classes
- Pre-matric (Component-I): Class IX to X
- Pre-matric (Component-II): Scholarship for children of those engaged in occupations involving cleaning and prone to health hazards (Class I-X)
- Post-matric: For post-matriculation level courses

Eligibility Criteria of Assam OBC Scholarship
Community and Citizenship
- Community: Only OBC community students are eligible.
- Citizenship: Open to Indian nationals only.
Family Restriction
- Only two boys of the same parents/guardian are entitled to receive scholarships. This restriction does not apply to girls.
Income Ceiling
- For Pre-Matric (Class-IX & X) [Component-I] and Post-Matric Scholarship: Scholarships are granted if the parental/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum.
- No income bar for Pre-Matric (Class I-X) [Component-II] Scholarship for children engaged in hazardous occupations.
How to Apply for OBC Scholarship?
To apply for this scholarship, candidates must visit the official national scholarship portal at https://scholarships.gov.in. Follow the steps below to submit your online application.

2. Locate and click on the link for the Online Application Form. |
3. A new webpage will open up. |
4. Find and click on the “New Registration” link. |
5. Fill in all the necessary details in the portal and complete the registration process. |
6. Once registered, provide all the required credentials and upload your documents on the portal. |
7. Finally, click on “Submit” and make sure to print out a copy of your submitted application. |

Applicants must submit the following documents along with the OBC Scholarship Application Form:
- Bank Passbook
- Income Certificate
- Caste Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
Note:
Applicants are kindly requested to provide their active bank account details to ensure the successful payment of the Scholarship. All Scholarship disbursements will be made through the DBT mode, so it is important to have an active bank account. Please note that the authority cannot be held responsible for any transaction failures caused by inactive or incorrect bank details.
- Please make sure that you have seeded your Aadhaar number to your bank account, as it is required for all applicants.
- All applicants will be required to have Aadhaar, as it will be made mandatory. However, for minor applicants who do not have Aadhaar, their parent or legal guardian will be required to provide Aadhaar.
