Eligibility Criteria of SSC CHSL Recruitment
Age Limit: Candidates applying must be between 18 and 27 years old as of August 1, 2024. This means they should have been born between August 2, 1997, and August 1, 2006.
Age Relaxation: The category-wise upper age relaxation is as mentioned below
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PWD: 10 years
- PWD (OBC): 13 years
- PWD (SC/ ST): 15 years
- ESM: 3 years
Educational Qualification:
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
- LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry mentioned above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
- The candidates who have appeared in their 12th Standard or equivalent examination can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before the cutoff date i.e. 01-08-2024.

CHSL Examination Structure
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will need to take part in two computer-based exam tiers. It is important to remember that if the computer-based exams are held in multiple shifts, the marks obtained will be normalized using the formula provided by the Commission. If there are any discrepancies or disputes in the questions between English and the chosen language, the English version will take precedence.
Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)
The Tier-I Examination will include only Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions. The questions will be available in English, Hindi, and the candidate’s chosen language in the application form. Here is the structure of the Tier-I exam:
Question Type: Tier-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
Negative Marking: For every wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks. Candidates should keep this in mind while answering the questions.
Time Duration: The exam will last for 60 minutes (80 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe, as mentioned in Para-7.1 and 7.2 of the official notification).

General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Numerical operations, Other sub-topics, if any.
Quantitative Aptitude:
- Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers.
- Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work.
- Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations.

General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
Tier-II (Computer Based Examination)
