Eligibility Criteria of SSC CGL Recruitment
To be eligible for SSC CGL 2024, candidates must meet certain age, educational, and other requirements. Here are the details:
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
- PwD (OBC): 13 years
- PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
Educational Qualification
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects. The candidate must have studied Statistics in all the three years or six semesters of graduation.
Research Assistant in NHRC
- Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
- Desirable Qualification:
- Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or research institution.
- Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
All Other Posts
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
Note: Candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, provided they obtain the essential qualification by 01-08-2024.

Scheme of SSC CGL Examination
The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers:
Tier-I Examination
- Type of Questions: Objective Type, Multiple choice questions. Questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for English Comprehension.
- Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer.
- Duration of Exam: 1 hour (1 hour and 20 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe as mentioned in the official notification).
- Normalization of Marks: Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examinations, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized using the formula published by the Commission. These normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.

The Tier-I exam consists of four subjects with the following distribution:

Scheme of Tier-II Examination

- Paper-II is for candidates applying for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Statistical Investigator Grade-II in the office of Registrar General of India (M/o Home Affairs) and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these posts.
