No Polytechnic Admission Test from 2024-25 Onwards
A notable change this year is the discontinuation of the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT). Admissions will now be based on the marks obtained in the HSLC Exam, with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects. This shift emphasizes the importance of academic performance in the HSLC examination.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam Polytechnic Admission
To be eligible for the polytechnic courses, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Resident-ship
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Permanent Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
- Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC): Required at the time of counseling. Provisional admission is possible with a PRC application receipt and an undertaking to submit the final PRC within 60 days.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- Passed the HSLC or its equivalent examination in a single sitting.
- Passed Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects, including both theory and practical examinations.
- Achieved the minimum average percentage in Mathematics and Science as per the category:
- General: 40%
- OBC/MOBC: 40%
- SC: 35%
- ST: 33%

The maximum age limits as of 31st December 2024 are:
- UR and OBC/MOBC: 20 years 6 months
- SC/ST: 23 years 6 months
- PWD: 25 years 6 months
