Indian Navy Sailor Recruitment Vacancy Details

Name of post: Sailors for Matric Recruit (MR)

Total Vacancies: 300

Education Qualification: Candidate must have passed Matriculation Examination from the Boards of School Education recognized by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.       

Age Limit: Candidates should be born between 01 April 2002 to 30 September 2005 (Both dates are inclusive).

Pay and Perquisites:

Pay & Allowances:  During the initial training period, scholarships of Rs.14,600/- per month will be acceptable. After successful completion of initial training, they will be placed at Level 3 of Defence Pay Matrix (Rs 21,700-69,100). In addition, they will be paid Rs 5200/- per month and MSP @ DA (as applicable).

Perquisites.

(a) Throughout the training period and thereafter, the sailors are given books, reading materials, uniforms, food, and accommodation as per entitlement.

 (b) The Sailors are entitled to medical treatment, travel exemption for self and dependents, group home facilities, and other privileges. The Sailors are entitled to annual and casual leave, child education, and house rent allowance. Benefits after retirement include pension, gratuity, and leave encashment. All the prerequisite services are extended as per the terms and their eligibility/acceptance are regulated as per applicable government orders and revised from time to time. 

Job Specifications.

Chef: They must prepare food according to the men (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian including handling of meat products) and accounting of ration. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirements.

Steward:  They would be required to serve food in the officers’ messes, as waiters, housekeeping, accounting of funds, wine and stores, preparation of menu etc. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirements.

Hygienists:  They will be required to clean the washroom, shower spaces, and other areas. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per Service requirements.

Selection Process for Indian Navy Sailor Recruitment

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an exception is being made in the public interest wherein approximately 1500 candidates will be called up for written examination and PFT.

The shortlisting of the candidates for written examination and PFT will be undertaken on the basis of the percentage of qualifying examination (10th examination).

The cut-off marks may differ from state to state as vacancies have been allocated in a state-wise manner.

Written Test.

(a) The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type.

(b) The question paper will comprise of two sections i.e. Science & Mathematics and General Knowledge.

(c) The standard of the question paper will be that of 10th  level and the syllabus for the examination is available on the website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in.

(d) Duration of examination will be 30 minutes.

(e) All candidates appearing for written examination would be subjected to PFT on the same day.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT) :

(a) Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection.

(b) PFT will consist of a 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squats (Uthak Baithak), and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

(c) Minimum height 157 cms.  Weight and Chest should be proportionate.

(a) Before filling online application, keep the matric certificate ready for reference.

(b) Register yourself on www.joinindiannavy.gov.in with your e-mail ID, if not registered already. The Applicants must ensure that while filling their Application Form, they are providing their valid and active e-mail IDs and mobile numbers, which should not be changed till selection the procedure is over.

(c) ‘Log–in with the registered E-mail ID and Click on “Current Opportunities”.

(d) Click on the “Apply” (√) button.

(e) Fill up the Form completely. Before clicking the ‘Submit’ button make sure all the details are correct, all required documents are scanned in original & uploaded.

Note: Candidates may be Online Application forms through Common Service  Centre (CSC) across the country. This is an optional facility.
