Eligibility Criteria for CBSE CTET Exam

Primary Stage (Classes I-V)
To be eligible for the CTET exam for Classes I-V, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, following NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). AND (a) Candidates with a Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution should undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE within two years of appointment as a primary teacher.
Elementary Stage (Classes VI-VIII)
To be eligible for the CTET exam for Classes VI-VIII, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), following NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time. OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education). OR
- Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines, a person pursuing a teacher education course specified by the NCTE or the RCI is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.
