To be eligible for Assam Navodaya Admission 2024, a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

Geo Location: Only candidates who are bona fide residents of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located and are currently studying in Class V within the same district are eligible to apply for admission.

Age Limit: Candidates must have been born between 1st May 2012 and 31st July 2014 (Both dates are inclusive). This will apply to candidates of all categories, including those who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC).

Educational Qualification: Candidates appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class V throughout the academic session of 2023-24 in a Government/Government-aided or other recognized schools. Alternatively, candidates may have completed the ‘B’ certificate competency course of the National Institute of Open Schooling in the same district where they are seeking admission.

Number of Attempts: Candidates are allowed to appear for the selection test only once. No candidate is eligible for a second attempt under any circumstances.

Rural Quota: At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates selected from rural areas of the district. The remaining seats are open which will be filled on merit from both Urban and Rural Area candidates of the district as per reservation criteria.

To be considered under the rural quota, candidates must have studied in Classes III, IV, and V, completing the full academic session in government-aided or government-recognized schools located in rural areas. However, for Class V, the candidate should have completed the full academic session in a rural area of the same district where they seek admission.

➥The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and thereafter English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science.
